Meet the Team

I was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois (approx. 3 hours from Chicago and 3 hours from St. Louis). I moved to Charleston in Feb 1999 and have been here ever since. I am the middle of 5 children (4 boys and 1 girl). My older brother and sister still live in Illinois. My younger brother lives in Thailand, and my baby brother lives in the Charlotte area. My parents moved to the Charleston area within the last year. My family is divided into 2 categories…. Chicago Cubs fans and St. Louis Cardinals fans. My parents and older brother root for the wrong team…. the rest of us are smart and are Cubs fans. 

I am not married and have all of zero children. Other than Illinois and SC …. I lived in Scotland for about 3.5 years when I was a young child and I attended college in a small city in Wisconsin. 

I was in Law Enforcement from 1998 to 2013; primarily with the Charleston County Sheriffs Office. I worked in the jail, uniformed patrol, and the detective unit. I was also on the tactical unit when I worked at the jail and was on the SWAT team when I worked as a sworn Deputy. 

I started working in the insurance industry in March of 2013 as a way to make extra money. Within a few weeks of selling insurance I quit the department and began doing insurance full time. I worked as an independent insurance agent from March 2013 till around August 2019 when I started my own brokerage company called Your Insurance Guy.

Fun facts about Nick…..interests and hobbies

• I been doing cross-fit since 2007 and have done some cross-fit competitions
• I completed 2 full marathons and probably a dozen half marathons
• I golf way too much…. for being as bad as I am. I’m a 29 handicap currently
• I started my current kickball team approx. 18 months ago, but have played on and off since 2007
• I my drink of choice is draft beer
• I drink way too much black coffee every day…. probably 1.5 pots by myself. 
• I love Costco so much that when I get a Great Dane puppy his/her name will be Kirkland
• I’m addicted to Law and Order…. I can watch it for hours.
• I tend to travel a lot; 2 of my favorite spots are Nashville and Key West
